What does a puller do?
It makes the slider easier to grip and pull. It is also a detail that adds to a product's look and brand identity.
Puller types
| Type | Features |
|---|---|
| Die-cast metal | Zamak, brass or stainless; can be plated |
| Painted, enamelled | Colour on metal |
| PVC, rubber, silicone | Moulded colour logo |
| Leather, faux leather | Printed or riveted logo |
| Cord, wire | Light and practical |
Ordering a custom logo puller
- Method: Logos can be engraved, embossed, lasered or enamelled.
- Tooling and approval: Plan the mould and finish approval for metal pullers in advance.
- Material: A "rubber" puller may actually be PVC, so ask explicitly.
- Finish match: Puller, slider and teeth should share the same tone.
Cautions in use
- A swinging metal puller can leave rub marks on light fabrics.
- Painted and enamelled pullers can chip at the edges in heavy washes.
- Puller strength should be checked separately for children's products.
MAK Zipper sells all slider and puller types in metal and plastic.
Puller selection table
| Puller | Look | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Die-cast metal | Plated, suits a logo | A heavy piece can drag light fabric |
| Painted, enamel | Colour-matched to the brand | Can chip at edges in washing |
| Rubber, PVC, silicone | Soft, coloured logo | Ask clearly what the material is |
| Leather, faux leather | Printed or riveted | Test how it handles washing |
| Cord, wire | Light, sporty look | End and joint must be secure |
Pullers on children's products
A puller that comes off on children's clothing is a safety issue. EN 16732:2015 used 0.34 N·m torque and 70 N slider retention for these products. If you make children's items, plan the test report early. Clamp-type pullers can shed metal particles as they move and mark light fabric; they can be secured during washing. See options on our sliders and pullers page and part names in the parts guide.
